Sorry Cap'n Bob,

I'm not letting you get away with this one. :-)

Whilst your mass is impinging (let someone else run that through the
dictionary!) on the vehicle it will affect the c.o.g. of the vehicle and
thus the location of the c.o.g. slightly.

The moment your mass is no longer in contact, it will remove its effect.

As an analogy, consider the see-saw (teeter-totter?) in a childrens
playground. It is your mass when you sit on the end of the plank that
alters the c.o.g. and makes it tilt. When you sit in your car it tilts.
C.o.g. is a 3 dimensional point and the higher you are the higher you will
raise the c.o.g.

If you want to ask, "How much it affects it?", in practical terms,
considering the mass ratio between you and your vehicle the answer to that
is, "Not a lot!".

It does not affect YOUR c.o.g. at all - except that alters between a sitting
and standing position - what it does alter is the location of your c.o.g and
its movement with the vehicle. The distance you are moved is increased.
Very roughly, the closer you are to the vehicle c.o.g the less you are moved
around and better you feel. The further away, the further you are moved and
the worse you feel. If you have someone who is car/travel sick - put them
atop the c.o.g. (normally front seat in the middle) and drive in such a way
the c.o.p. is a constant and that will help them.

"Driving in the snow is performance driving"

Not in terms of the original context in which vertical seating position
was mentioned, David. Let's go back to square#1, here.

<...snip...>

This has nothing to do with the vehicle's center of gravity.

And in any event, whether I chose to sit high or low (on "top of" or
"within") my
Spridget makes no difference to the vehicle's center of gravity.

However, It may make a difference to MY PERSONAL CG and thus, indirectly
affect MY handling of the vehicle.....which I think is what you are trying
to say here?
