Neither is perfect and while the the Watts is claimed to better than the
Panhard a world renowned expert - the late Arthur Mallock disputed that. The
best
system is called mumford links after Micheal Mumford and as well as providing
lateral (sideways) location lowers the centre of gravity (can use a bracket
under the axle casing).
However, since no-one makes a Mumford system you'll need to buy off the
shelf. I have used Tom Colby's Speedwell Panhard rod and found it fitted ok
and
did the job. I haven't tried anyone elses system but unless you are racing and
really know what you are doing I doubt it could easily be improved upon -
unless you have a Mumford system.
