have saved the data, as it would not be able to "leak" out. {8->
It is understandable that the engine must run hotter, as you are keeping
the heat in the exhaust system. In a "normally" coolable engine this
would increase the efficiency. Unfortunately, the Tiger is not amongst
them. There is a better answer, but, of course, it is more expensive.
There is an aluminum-ceramic spray-on coating that not only keeps the
heat in the, but looks good too. The cost is about $300 from Jett-Hot,
not including the headers. I found a local aerospace firm that does
ceramet spraying for aircraft turbine blades, and rocket parts for about
half that cost, but Hedman (sp) says they use them in their better line,
but it's not as good as the Jett-Hot. The Jett-Hot colors range from
shiny aluminum through "new" cast iron grey, and some pretty wild
colors. The cast iron grey looks the most "original", and doesn't rust.
It's an expensive solution, but a lot of users think they are great.
It occurs to me that those wanting to keep their appearance stock, but
avoid the ugly rust of cast iron, could sand-blast their cast iron Tiger
exhaust manifolds and have them Jet-Hot cast iron sprayed. They will run
somewhat cooler, and maintain a new look for a long time.
Any Jett-Hot experienced users comments would be useful.
