I agree with checking the shoes on the rear. But also try
1. Switching the left side tire with the right. If the pull
reverses, you have found the problem.
2. Are your tie rods equal length. If they are unequal
you get what is called bump steer. When going over
a large bump and the car goes left or right when you
come back down, you have bump steer. Correct by
making your tie rods equal length. Then pull the
steering connection to the rack spindle to center it.
Finally pull the steering wheel to center and level it.
When braking hard you may be transferring enough
weight forward to give you bump steer.
