Strange Panel Lamp Switch?

My car has a three position panel lamp switch.  The three positions are off,
low and high.  The switch has a block resistor that clips onto contacts on
the switch.  The switch looks like a match otherwise to all the other
switches that came with my car.  As far as I can tell this type of which is
not indicated in the schematics for Tigers are Alpines.  What is this?  Did
some Tigers or other Rootes cars use this?  Is this typical on Tigers
despite the wiring diagram?
