I have finally started my tiger restoration (mk1a). After the sticker shock
from
getting ground-up-body-work-to-show paint estimates, I decided that I would
persue doing the panel replacements myself, as I did this on my 55 T-bird.
Before asking questions, it needs the following body parts due to rust
and/or
damage (I'll try to be brief):

both outer rocker panels (the inners seem to be ok so far)
the fore and aft sections of the front and rear fenders adjacent to the
rockers
the right half of the trunk floor
spare tire well
front valence panel (ain't that one expensive!)

I have the following questions to post:

Does anyone have a good valence panel (or any of the other panels from Rob
Martel) that they didn't use and would like to sell reasonable?

When replacing the rocker panels, do I need to flex the door openings to
open the door gaps so that the load afterward closes up the door gap?

or

do I weld them in with the door gaps as desired?

I am planning to have over 300HP under the hood so I am a bit concerned
about the frame strength. Are there any additional frame strengthening
suggestions inside the rocker panel area or elsewhere?

What are your paint recommendations? (I've used lacquer, acrylic enamel,
urethanes, base coat clear coat and epoxies)

The color of this car was originally paint code 100, which I believe is
mediterranean blue. No offense to owners of this color car, but it's just
not one I would have picked. How much does the value of the car suffer if I
change it to:

a) another of the "original" tiger colors?
b) a "non-original" color?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Chuck
