DrMayf, Steve L asked me the same question.  I mentioned it briefly in
the article, when I lowered the plastic part of the air dam.

I did measure the recirculation of the air from the radiator, in stock
form, with the air dam with no plastic part, with a short 2" plastic
part, and with the final 4" plastic part.

The added depth, or distance to the ground, was made after I tried the
incent smoke at each phase.  The recirculation occurred on all other
designs at idle, except with the 4" plastic part or scrapper.
