260 vs 289

Someone posted recently that the reason that 260's in Tigers were 
painted black was that they came from the Industrial branch of Ford.

Actually, 1964 1/2  and some 1965 Mustangs came with 260 and 289 motors 
with black blocks and gold rocker covers and air filter housings, with 
chrome housings and rocker covers on the 271hp motors. The Ford blue 
pain started being used for the 1966 model year.
