Years ago at the Suni held in Indpls, Darrel Bruin gave a great seminar on
bolts and nuts. That's what his company sells. He too issued the warning
about the crap being sold in hardware stores and parts stores. He said
most Dromann bolts were being made off shore and barely meet specs.

He recommended an industrial source. I asked about Caterpillar bolts
and nuts. He said CAT bolts are all made in Peoria, IL and are quality
pieces. All are fine thread grade 8 or better and oil phosphate treated for
off
road and extreme moisture. Some even have 'CAT' on the bolt head.
He also said Deere bolts are fine too.

So go to your nearest CAT dealer. They can order what you need at
good prices, The sell bolts in almost length any can imagine.

Darrel also said to beware of most stainless steel stuff. Stainless
has to deal with the compostion of the metal, not its strength. Given
the choice between a pretty stainless 'grade 8' bolt and the black
grade 8 CAT bolt, go with CAT.

Food for thought.
