Stu
I don't know of any history of the Autolite carb being a fire =
hazard.
=20
We are working with an open fuel system on the Tiger instead of the =
closed
systems on newer vehicles so we need to do a little more maintenance.
=20
I would look for these:
=20
Too much fuel pressure from fuel pump
stuck float valve
Sinking float
Fuel line fitting leaking
Bad carb gasket
Cracked carb fuel bowl
=20
I would think that if you turned the fuel pump ON you will see a fuel =
leak
somewhere. =20
Just be careful when you try that - fuel spray can hurt.

Michael King thinks there's a history of the stock carbs lighting things =
up
on hot restarts. Does anyone else have any history?

Does anyone know what the mechanism might be? I know the accelerator =
pump
is OK, nothing dripping there. The only other logical explanation is =
fuel
being forced out the bowl vent. I'll look for traces when I take the =
photos
tonight. Could the float valve works have occasional issues? A =
sinking
float? Could fuel be boiling from the heat soak when its shut off? Or =
when
fuel hits the hot bowl when the pump starts? Any other theories?

Stu
