FYI, the British V8 conversion website ( http://www.britishv8.org ) is down
now; it seems the service provider has gone under. We are working to move to a
new service, and we should be back up soon.

For those that are interested in such heresy as a TR6 engine swap, a good
source of info is the British V8 Newsletter. Information on obtaining this
newsletter can be found on the above website, as soon as it is back up again.
Contact me direct if you'd like more info before the site is back up, or if
you'd
like to obtain back issues.

On that same website is a link to an extensive list of LBCs with big motors,
including several V8 powered TR6s.

If you ever get the chance to drive a well done V8 TR6, don't take it. If you
do, you will never again be happy with the stock engine. If you would like to
take that chance, plan to be at the British V8 convention in Grand Rapids, MI
in August of this year. Details can be found in the newsletter.

Another good source of info on TR6 engine swaps can be found in Roger
Williams book "How to Improve the TR5, 250, & 6", available from 6-Pack. This
book
has three examples of V8 TR6s, including mine.

What engine to use? Opinions vary, but in my mind, far and away the best
choice is the Ford 302. With aluminum heads, this engine, with a 5-speed
transmission, weighs 25 pounds LESS than the stock engine/trans, and is SMALLER
than
the 215ci Buick/Rover aluminum V8. Stock crate engines can be had, direct from
Ford, with up to 370 HP.

Alcoa, TN
