My comment to that if the supplier (in the UK?) is charging a flat rate of 
US$40 for shipping, he's trying to "lift a leg." IMHO, even US$20 would be 
excessive. If sent by airmail, the price would be considerably less and as a 
guide, my book costs only 12 bucks by airmail. Delivery is often only 3 days 
and a week at the most. Try again, and tell the supplier to come down from 
out of the clouds!
