<<<None. When was the last time you saw a Pinto or a TR-4 at an
autocross? If
you're driving one of those antiques, you should be able to afford a
Civic
Si, Integra, or other cheap HS car to autocross. >>>

Isn't this sport supposed to be grassroots particularly in the lowest
stock class??? If you don't want to see these antiques at autocrosses I
suggest you take them out of the clasifications instead of listing them
where they do not have a chance in hell of competing. They can come run
in Mod along with me in my street car.

<<<How many times do we have to tell you "There is no empirical data."
? You
can't do it with a formula, it won't work. Come up with a formula, and
I can
blow holes in it within 30 minutes... >>>

The empirical data are the results of the major events. I thought you
knew that...

My algorithm is very simple:

1) Break the cars into model groups which has already been done for the
most part. I'd go a step further and break out M030 cars from non-M030
cars, as an example.

2) Let them compete for a year using the current classes.

3) Move the winners up and move the losers down based on Nationals and
select large events.

4) Create new classes every x.y seconds apart based on the spread and
where the splits seem to be.

5) Go to step 2.
