Solex Question

Hello,

On the Solex's there is a non-circular hole that looks like some sort of 
intake.  What is that for?

Does anyone have any final answers about using an aftermarket filter system 
that would house a set of intake stacks.  I heard names like ITG and 
Pipercross etc...  If anyone has done such a modification please pass me 
along some information of who to call.
