Or how about the a-mod approach. Turbo Mazda rotary. Complete engine around
250lbs. And potentially 250-350 hp easy. Only clearence issues involved are
the size of the RX7 tranny and where to route the exhaust. Rotary exhaust can
get might toasty. Enough to melt your shoes to the floorboards if its not
routed good enough. Or jjust route it out the side.

With all the talk of engine swaps and all, I wonder what listies would
drop into a Lotus 7 replica kit-car (this is all hypothetical of course)
So Lotus 7 clone, target weight about 1000# What would you put in?
Popular choice, besides the old ford 1.6 cross-flow engine is a more
modern ford zetec engine. So you're limited to 4 cylinders 2 liter or
under (we're keeping it light, remember)  What's your choice?
