How do you put a new Stereo receiver in???

Ok, I give up.  I've got a nice Kenwood receive I'd like to put in my 67 1600 
when the interior is finished, but cannot figure out how to get in the 
available space.  The original radio is long gone, and just a hole there now.

It seems all the new radios have wider chassis than those of old, and I can't 
see a good way to make mine fit.  Anyone been through this?  What to do?????
