C & L,
according to my notes I made when I dissembled my '65, two wires from
the external reg. went into the engine bay loom at the reg.
One was a large WHITE wire which connected to the "A" terminal (ACTIVE
straight from the Alternator output)
This wire should appear at the fuse block and be connected to the
bottom two fuses, for L(ights) and H(orn).
So, you need to extend the WHITE wire (which will be floating around
where the old reg. was positioned) to the alternator output tag or to
the battery post since the WHITE wire eventually is connected to the
live battery post anyway.
The second wire was a BLACK with WHITE tracer which was connected to
the "IG" terminal of the external reg.
This wire should appear at the fuse block and be connected to the top
two fuses, for W(iper) and F(an) (heater blower fan).
My advice is to common the WHITE and BLACK wires together since they
both feed power to the fuses.
I'm not sure how that will affect the ammeter, my eyes and the spidery
circuit drawing are not compatible.
You can't damage anything (trust me) but unless the new alternator has
an IG tag you can connect them together as described and to the
battery/alternator output to power the fuse block.

Subject: Rewiring Alternator... Again

We finally decided to remove the old fuse block placed in the '64 1600
by a
PO. We were thinking of rewiring it to the original fuse block, which
appears to be in good condition. The question; there are two blades
on one
side of the block that, according to the 1500 diagram, come from the
voltage
regulator. We replaced the original alternator & regulator with an
internally regulated alternator. Now, we don't know where to bring the
wires
from so we can power the fuse block.

Help!

Thanks in advance,
