Hi Mark,
I had the same experience, although it was only one bushing nut that
wouldn't free up.
In the end I took it to an engineering shop and it was given the
extreme heat and rotation treatment.
The bushing nut has been trashed and the shaft needs a little
massaging to clean up the threads.
I didn't try an impact wrench, but after seeing what the problem was
(all metal parts had become one), I doubt if it would have helped.
These little muthas will sieze very badly to the shaft if not lubed
well and often, then its game over.
I suggest taking the whole shooting match to a workshop and be
prepared to buy new bushings at least.
Good luck fella.

Subject: Question for the wrench turners on the list

I disassemble the entire front end today ( vac. day ;-)), with the
exception
of the lower a-arm bushings. Tried a big wrench, then a socket, then
a long
tube over a breaker bar and still couldn't get 'em to budge. Didn't
want to
chance damaging them, so i didn't go any further. I don't currently
have an
impact socket that big.
Can anyone offer tips /tricks /gems of wisdom / incantations as to how
to get
them free? Basically just want to disassemble to clean and put in new
boots.
TIA,
Mark Sedlack
