This will only work on a "smogged" intake manifold.
If you really want to save money, you can make your own water manometer 
for just a couple of bucks.  All you need is some clear plastic tubing, 
and some water.  Remove the  plugs (or air injectors) from the intake 
manifold.  Insert the hose, one end into each hole, and use some tape 
or something similar to get a good seal.  Then you can start the 
engine.  The difference in water level will show you the difference in 
carb balance.  It's also much more accurate than a Uni-syn.  You can 
also check the balance at larger throttle openings as well.  Believe it 
or not, just because the carbs are synced at idle, doesn't mean they'll 
be balanced at higher rpms.
