I can?t think of a pad I?ve put into any of my British cars that I didn?t have 
to modify?either a little or a lot. Generally grinding some part of the backing 
plate to make the pad fit or engage  the disk properly. Probably Porterfield 
doesn?t know this can occasionally be a problem because no one bothered to tell 
them over the last 25 years?they just did what was necessary to make the pads 
work.
