Thanks to all that replied to my choke adjustment question. 
I now have a better understanding how this system all works together. 
Turns out my fast idle screws were adjusted improperly(my idle was based on
these) and now the choke is much more effective. That and adusting the slow
idle  screws once warmed up makes for a  more pleasant operation. All the
other settings were pretty close.
