Hi, David -
In theory, magnaflux will work with paint on the surface; but the inspection
is more accurate with paint off, and that is the way the parts are usually
inspected.

I'm not exactly sure what you are calling the "accumulator pump". There is
the overdrive oil pump, and then there is the accumulator. The accumulator is
a large cylinder of aluminum with a piston inside that smooths out the oil
pressure pulses from the pump and maintains a more or less constant pressure
in the system when the overdrive is operating.
If this is what you need, Moss has them in their catalog:
Accumulator Housing, P/N 866-320 ($90.95) and piston with rings, P/N 866-330
($148.95).

The accumulator housing (bore severely scored) was the main reason my
overdrive did not work until I replaced it with a new one during the rebuild.
I would not consider installing a used housing unless the bore were perfect.

If you are referring to the overdrive oil pump, Moss has those in the catalog
as well.

Happy Healeying!

  Two quick questions:

1.) In order to have the fan blades magnafluxed, do they have to be
stripped
  of paint?

2.) Does anyone have an overdrive accumulator pump to sell, or can
recommend
where to buy one? I actually need just the piston and pump body... Does
the
Accumulator pump require any special tools to remove or replace it?

  Thanks,
