Dave,

Agreed it sounds like it is working as per design.  Perhaps the owner is a
candidate for the OD switch on the shifter mod.  This way he can "down
shift" quicker which would be closer to his driving habits.

It sounds like his OD is working correctly. It should always be in OD  
as long as the switch is on. It will stay in OD when the switch is  
turned off until you accelerate beyond 1/5 throttle or approx 1" of  
pedal movement then it will kick out of OD
