Way back when I started with old British cars I was surprised that Smith oil
temp usually were in centrigrade while the water temps were farenheit.
That's just the way they did it I suppose

It is still the same gauge, just different numbers on the dial. Anyway,
who was using Fahrenheit in the 50's?? Must have been from a European or
Asian specced car.
