Oh, thanks for the correction. I misinterpreted your previous explanation.

How about this for a wacky theory? The lockout switch is currently adjusted
so that it is barely engaged in the 3rd/4th position. Heat expansion of the
tranny case is sufficient that the lockout switch is no longer contacted,
disabling the OD. Solution: remove washers from under the lockout switch.

Well, it's a suggestion...
