Emory,
   You don't mention what year you are working on. AD trucks as well as I assume
others have no fuse for the headlights but use a thermal circuit breaker that is
attached to/part of the headlight switch. Excessive current will heat up a metal
strip enough so that it allows gravity to disconnect it. When it cools it will
return and make electrical contact. A persistent short will make your lights
repeatedly go n and off but hopefully not burn up the wiring.
