I thought I read somewhere that after installing a wiring harness you
were suppose to connect the battery cables up to a trickle charger to
see if things worked before hooking up the full 12 volts.
Anyone else heard of this?
Disclaimer: I've never done this, in fact I have trouble getting both
battteries in a flashlight so it will work.....but sooner or later
I'll get to wiring my truck.

With the key off, the lights off, all switches off, you say you have
battery
wire continuity to ground? That's not ok.
You've disconnected the battery-to-ignition switch wire, and you still
have
battery wire continuity to ground?
You've disconnected the battery-to-lightswitch wire, and you still
have
battery wire continuity to ground?
With both those wires disconnected, what other places does the battery
wire
go? Continue the process, disconnecting one wire or terminal at a
time,
until you no longer have a battery wire continuity to ground.
Obviously,
when you've disconnected all the wires, you should DEFINITELY not have
a
battery wire continuity to ground.....
(Doing this via email is like helping my 78-year-old mother with her
computer problems over the phone...one quick view would usually tell
all!)
