G'day listers!
The ongoing thread of weber tuning coincides with a problem I'm having with
my 1500 spit that has 1 1/2 SUs on it.
I had them rebuilt last spring to try to get the car closer to passing our
smog tests here in Vancouver. Didn't really help at all, and I know that
the thing is still running too rich.
The jets are only one turn down from the stops, where the haynes manual
suggests a starting point of two turns and then minor adjustments form
there.
I'm using ABT needles which are the same that the UK 1500 spits are using,
and the jets have been replaced. I find it unlikely that the Uk cars would
run this rich(lumpey idle, lots of soot). Is anyone else out there using
this setup without the richness factor? The previous spit I had with 1 1/4s
ran alot cleaner.
p.s. my car is using a stock exhaust manifold, whereas the previous car had
a 4 into 1 header on it. Don't know if this makes a difference...
