No, you want the all the extra the GT6 offered, better brakes different
mount points for the rad etc.  It is a lot easier to put the sit tub on the
GT6 frame.

Mine is a '73 GT6 engine, O/D transmission, brakes and suspension in a '73
Mark IV frame, with a '74 spitfire tub.  There is still stuff left over from
the mkIV frame which gets in the way.
