I don't know of a way to increase the pressure on the clutch disk itself
unless you replace the springs. Chances are that the clutch is worn and
needs to be replaced. Part for a clutch change are about $120 for the
diaphram type and less than $200 for the coil spring type. This includes
the clutch, throwout bearing, and new pressure plate.
Early spits came with a Laycock pressure plate that used coil springs rather
than the later diaphram spring. If you have the early design, you can move
the point where the clutch disengagues by adjusting the three nuts on the
pressure plate pivot arms. This may be the adjustment you are referring to.

I have a 1963 Spitfire with an 1147cc motor and trans from a 69 spit. The
clutch slips and I was going to replace it but was told that there may be an
adjustment for the clutch. I've never heard of this before, anyone else? If
not any Ideas for a good place to get a clutch kit where the price won't
kill me? I'm in Wisconsin, i.e. the closer the better.
