Oh lordy, Jay, how right you are.  And you will remember when, a few years ago, 
I had
the temerity to wonder publicly in this forum why there was a need for two 
separate
national organizations.  Foolishly, I theorized that if they consolidated, the
combined resources of the membership would result in a better magazine and 
could do
more for the overall membership at a lower cost.

Foolish?  Naw, it was dumb!  All it did was get a ton of vicious e-mail in my 
mailbox
and late-night calls from angry officials of one of the groups.   To his 
credit, the
president of the other group sought to have me take a more active role in his
organization.  Not one to play favorites, I just quit both.  It still seems to 
me
that the Austin-Healey community, big and small,  is ill-served by the 
existence of
two competing organizations.
