Yes, not sure exactly when the switched from down flow to cross flow
radiators, but I am pretty sure it was the same time that the 1275 became
stock in 1967. I know that 1969-74 1275 spridgets all have cross flow
radiators. 1975 1500 Midgets have a 1275 radiator core with 1500 tanks
cross flow, and 1976-79 have a 20% larger cross flow radiator that in the
car sits off center slightly. Avoid 1975 radiators. The radiator mounting
shroud on 69-74 spridgets is almost 4" deep, locating the radiator only 1/2"
away from the nose of the waterpump. The 1975-80 radiator mounting shroud
is only about 1 3/4" deep, leaving over 2" of space to mount an electric
slimline puller fan between the radiator and the water pump. Countersunk
philips or allen head screws for mounting the water pump pulley buys you
another 1/8" of clearance.
