I know I have been negligent in responding to all the fine input I have
received on this subject--so, thought I would do so here. This is typical
of this list-- many of you have responded with tips, ideas, pictures and
websites. I wanted to publicly thank all, and report that I have narrowed
the field to either spitfire latches, Dzus or the jeep-type chromies found
at http://www.europaspares.com/ will report to the list when final decision

I installed a set of Spitfire hood latches on my hood when I did the
front tilt thing. They were fairly easy to install. The only real
concern (nervous) I had was when cutting the slots into the hood sides.
Measure twice (and then recheck again & again) and cut once!

BTW - I got the original David Hill front tilt plans (from David in LA)
and posted them to Gerard's web site. I originally had them on my bugeye
and they functioned well. The only complaint I had was not with the
design, only with the quality of the manufactured parts (too light) -
and since I made them myself I had no one else to blame. So make sure
you use good quality steel or heavy aluminum on the parts and you should
have no problems.
