Hey All,

Well I stripped down the engine this weekend and ran into a small
problem. Removing the camshaft was not as easy as advertized, and I want
to know if I did something wrong. The camshaft would not pull out of the
front of the engine, so I removed the plug at the back of the engine and
then persuade the camshaft to come out the front with a mallet and the
rubber covered handle of a hammer. It didn't take much pounding to get
it out. I'm just wondering why it could of been stuck in the first
place..

Also, how do you determine if the bearings and piston rings need to be
replaced need to be replaced? I will be replacing the main bearings,
thanks to a bonehead move I pulled with one this weekend.

The rear oil seal seems to be fused to the plate it attaches to! Is
this normal?

Good news is the thrust washers were in place. The both showed signs
of
pitting, and the one on the outside of the engine was pretty worn.

Later,
JHD IV
