A week or two back I asked for some help with the specs for standard (ie:
not heavy duty) TR6 front springs, as mine have been reset way too high by a
DPO.
Tom Tweed (Ohio) has helped with the following info from a Haynes manual:

Working coils 5 1/4
Rate 312 lbs/in
Free length 10.03 in
Fitted length 8.12 +/-3/32 in
Fitted load 925 lbs
Hand of helix right
Static deflection 3 in
Wire diameter 0.5 +/-0.002 in

Can anyone else help with the following apparent anomolies?

a) I calculate the fitted load as (10.03-8.12)x312 = 596 lbs, very
different from the 925 lbs figure.

b) What does "static deflection" refer to if it isn't (free
length-fitted length)?

I would appreciate any comments on this, and especially any free length or
fitted length measurements from people whose TR's are known to sit at the
right height!

Thanks,
Peter Wilson
