Sirmoog,

The guy is full of, of, of IT. (Just trying to keep it clean.)  What
he probably said was Whitworth but he is wrong they are standard SAE
fine thread bolts - 5/16 UNF I think.  Or 3/8 UNF.  I did the same
thing a few years ago and had no problem getting the bolts I needed.
Any full service hardware store will carry UNF bolts in grade 5 which
are all you need for the job.  Check with another hardware store.
