Another advantage of Mobil 1 is the wider temperature range of the 15W50 weight
that allows it to stay in the crankcase year 'round. I've been pushing my
driving season into November in recent years and it helps with those very cold
morning (20-30 degrees) start-ups here in Vermont.
Re: the long drain interval. Before winter storage I change the filter and
top off with a fresh quart of oil. That combined with Trevor's natural oil
changing ability (one quart a season) ensures at least 2 quarts of new stuff in
the mix and lets me therefore go two years (5000 miles) between changes.
