I read this post with some degree of disbelief! for a moment, I thought
someone was "taking the michael" from an earlier post sent to the list on
August 20 (to save bandwidth, you can find it under "TR6 Charging Problems"
in the archives).

You have described exactly the dilemma I am experiencing, although mine
seems to afflict a 17ACR model (I have a 72 TR6). Every symptom you
describe, I have seen, and every bit of frustration, I've experienced!

Like you, I have checked the alternator, and it appears to be healthy, as
do the brushes. You have gone a lot further with your checks - I have
"sort of" relied on list responses, and although I didn't get any Triumph
list responses (because the problem is not a common one?), I did get some
helpful thoughts from a couple of 6-pack listers, but none solved the problem.

I know this doesn't help you one bit, but I do feel that it is a problem
that has been seen before. We've just got to hope that a person with the
solution sees the various posts before we go crazy.

(ps - since posting the problem to the list, I haven't had a reoccurrence
... weird, eh?)
