The problem with heating systems that does not dispose of the exhaust
gases externally, is that they produce significant amounts of humidity.
No problem as long as the heat is on, but when you turn it off, you
will get pretty much condensation. Rather bad news for a car, IMHO.

Electrical IR radiators of various kind will heat just the surfaces, not
the air, and will require far less energy for the same comfort level.
Especially in an uninsulated garage.  Whether they are cost effective
would depend on the price of electricity. At these shores, it is a couple
of cents per kWh, making it a good alternative.
