TR6 Electric Fuel Pump?

My '71 TR6 was purchased with a Facet low pressure solid state fuel pump
installed in place of the mechanical pump. Since the car ran and drove
fine, I've not yet replaced it.

In the past year, though, power is down substantially and I've had a few
difficult hot starts. The car runs fine at low rpms, but power is
horrible at mid and high rpms. I had first suspected that the
distributor was not advancing properly, but I now think I've
successfully tested it with an advance timing light to show that it is.
(I am using a Pertronix and Lucas Sport coil... the problem existed
prior to its installation and was no different afterwards.)

I intend to pull the tops off the carbs to check for a ruptured/leaking
diaphram... but I'm also suspect of low fuel pressure during high demand
periods.

Should I go back to an original fuel pump... or fit a modern (NAPA AC,
SU, etc) bellows-type electric pump with a pressure regulator? Any
BTDT? Any other suggestions of things to look for?

Thanks!
