Depending on your definition of inexpensive, "good inexpensive digital"
could be an oxymoron! Most good digital cameras will start at around $400
with the really good ones at $700-1000. Use will drive how much to spend. If
you're looking to replace a 35mm and print out family photos on a color
printer then you'll probably need to spend at the high end of the range. If
you're looking for PC/Web use, then you're dealing with lower resolution
needs and can get away with a less expensive model. Check out
http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0-1078.html?tag=st.co.1016.dir.1078 You
can compare cameras, features and price, along with some reviews. Yahoo has
a similar site at http://shopping.yahoo.com/Computers/Digital_Cameras/ A
couple of things to keep in mind: storage capacity and ease of importing to
your PC for editing. I've had 2 Sony Mavica cameras and prefer them because
the storage medium is floppy disk. Fill up a floppy and pop in another one.
Loading them on to you PC is via your floppy drive.

I'm trying to learn about digital cameras in order to buy one.(I think the
prices may come down). For instance, when I read about a 35mm camera it will
state something like zoom 28 to 140. Well, I understand that, 28 being wide
angle, 55 being normal, 135 ish, portrait, and you turn the lens or push the
button and it zooms in or out. However, when I look at digital cameras, they
will have something like 2x or 3x? I don't understand what this means in
terms of lenses or how they work? Can someone enlighten me. It would be nice
to have instant pictures of LBC cars. Also, can anyone make any
recommendations of good inexpensive digital cameras and what I should be
looking for? Thanks
