Dzus hood fasteners, gromet question

If someone has an original TR3 / A out there maybe you can answer this 
question.  The Dzus hood fasteners on my car were pretty well corroded so I 
removed the Dzus screw and washer but left the grommet on the car.  Should I 
remove the grommet also and replace everything or is the grommet normally 
painted the body color, in which case I'll leave it on the car?  I need to 
know because I am doing the final body work on the hood.
