Actually, I think what was reported at the time was that the TR guys
outfought the MG guys for the rights to the car.

I know, I know.  Actually, BL needed a replacement for the expensive to
build TR6 and the MGB was going to continue in production so it made sense
to badge it as a TR.

The wedge has many things in common with the MG (and other cars in
production at the time so it may be nothing more than coincidence) such as
uni-body construction and solid rear axle (although good by leaf springs)
but it also has such common traits with the TR such as tube shocks!

Oh well, arguing the differences between MG's and TR's of that era is like
arguing the differences between a Camaro and a Firebird.
