I believe the police TR5 vehicles were used on the M6 Motorway as chase
vehicles to catch drivers exceeding the speed limits etc.
The stock TR5 was capable of 120 mph. Police car version probably a touch
more as back in those days most of the big producers built dedicated
vehicles for use by the Police and in fact for the GPO Telephones, GPO
Mail, Electricity boards and the like. In fact a friend of mine has a Morris
1000 which has a letter within the Vin number to signify that it was purpose
built as Panda Police vehicle.

Our American cousins will probably be wondering what a Panda car was?
For their benefit it was the colour scheme of local police cars in UK.
Originally all Police cars were black and someone had the bright idea to
have white doors. Later versions were a greeny blue car with white doors. I
believe it was a Ford colour Lagoon Blue. The Panda name struck. Nowadays
local cars are white with yellow and blue reflective side panels and as they
are mainly diesels the crooks can now see and hear them from far away and
are long gone.

With the advent of motorways Police traffic cars became white for visibility
with red and blue reflective stripes added.
