After reading the message I did a visual comparison of the two ball joints
at a jag shop.  The Jag component is indeed slightly more narrow and uses
shims to locate in the a-arm.  Using two shims the two ball joints are the
same width.  The article said to put both shims on one side to change
suspension geometry.  Looks easy if you are (like me) in the middle of a
front end re-build anyway.  The shims are not supplied with the ball joint
though.

In Oct 2000 Grassroots Motorsports JK Jackson indicated that you could put
Jaguar XJ6 upper ball joints on a TR6 to allow caster modification. Anyone
ever try this modification or is this similar to the ellusive Datsun 510
wagon progressive springs (often reported but NEVER seen).
