specifications. The book specification allows for open circuit voltage
as high as 16.8v at 0C. Of course, this will be reduced somewhat by the
current the ignition draws, but not (I think) enough to keep it below
the 15.0v max that Optima specifies.

If you attempt to float a regular gel cell at 15 volts you will quickly
have unpleasant results.
