Actually, TR6s didn't use the finger pull. That's why the
hole in your cubby box cover is too small. It looks like a good idea,
but when everything is working, it's uneccessary.
There should be a little offset "buffer" bracket with a small
rubber pad on it, which mounts inside the cubby box, on the left,
and presses against the inside of the cover. But mainly, the spring
action of the light switch against the back of the cover pushes the
door open. You may need to replace the dried-out foam pad on the
switch. Reference TRF's volume II, p. 406.
A quick stab with the index finger, and it pops open.
I wonder if the designer ever imagined that his work would
be so analyzed and preserved, 30 years later?
