I  can't comment on the Crane, never having had one, but I do have a
petronix - it's in the spare parts box. I took it out when the magnets in
the collar that goes over the distributor shaft came loose resulting in a
rather poorly operating motor.  Petronix replaced the collar, no warranty
questions at all, just said send it back and they sent me another (or
repaired that one).  But I haven't put it back in the car, just don't see
the need anymore.

I'd heard others question the reliability of the Petronix, mine had been
working well for about 3 years, but I don't put a lot of mileage on the car.
