Presumably this is a later 120. Earlier 120s used the 22429D/E and then
22429F/H. All superceded by 1960 to the 22496[B/D].

As Randall noted, the suffix letter indicates a slight change that would not
have affected interchangeability of the complete unit. So a 22462D could have
been replaced by a 22462E. In the case of the earliest numbers above, the
difference between the 22429D/E and F/H was in the commutator end bracket and
bushing.

The above is all extrapolated from my Lucas 400E Master Catalogue, 1945-60.
It's possible that a year-specific (i.e., 1953 Lucas Jaguar Catalogue) would
have ever so slightly more detail.

BTW, the basic model number of all of the above is C45PVS. _C_oncentrically
mounted armature; 4 1/2" (45) diameter yoke; P for "voltage control, 2-pole,
long type yoke"; S for "Special Finish; and V for "Ventilated." The 22429s are
both C45PVS; the 22462s are C45PVS-5; and the 22496s are C45PVS-6. It's not
clear from my catalogue what the -5 or -6 are for.
