I switched my TR3 to negative ground (earth) for a couple of reasons. 
One was to add a cigarette lighter type outlet behind the dash for using 
my duct tape replacement, the cell phone. The other was to fit a 
standard Crane electronic ignition.

No problems and no worries about someone who doesn't know any better 
hooking up cables to my car and blowing something up. I've seen people 
do it, but fortunately, not to me.
